You have been gifted with talents maybe only you are aware of. They could be writing, photography, encouragement, drawing, gardening, sewing, wisdom, and/or a number of other things. You know what they are. And God knows what they are for He designed you. He created you in His image and granted you talents and characteristics not unfamiliar to Him or unlike His.
When you were a young child you possessed the freedom to express yourself in ways that felt right to you – be it through drawing, singing, trying to figure out how the world worked, or something in the like. As you grew, influences either came to encourage or discourage your natural talents and inner strengths and beauty. You either grew in your freedom or were shackled in some way.
Me, I was shackled… until Jesus heard my cry for help and, finding me in the depths of brokenness, worked to fill my heart with love, my life with healing, and my soul with freedom, enabling me to become like a little child (so to speak) so I could once again possess the freedom to express myself in ways that feel right to me.
The other day Tim and I were driving down a back road, just because we wanted to see what was down there, and there we came across an old house on a property that had obviously seen better days. Without seeking to judge, when I viewed the property my heart instantly knew that if Tim owned that much land, he would turn it into a paradise, through his love for gardening, and I told him so.
At first, he didn’t realise I meant HE could transform it in to a place of great beauty, and was mightily blessed when I simply stated, “No, not me; not just anybody: YOU! YOU could turn it into heaven on earth…” and as soon as those words came out of my mouth – words born of a “knowing” in my spirit, that I know was prompted by the Holy Spirit – I realised that as a Christian is it our duty – and not just our duty, but a great pleasure and privilege, to use our talents and nature to bring heaven to earth… through which the world gets to see God’s beauty, God’s glory, God’s wonderful heart… and we get to make a positive difference in this world, offering the world the beauty and love God possesses, and the love Jesus was, and is, so adamant in revealing to one and all.
What are your talents… and, fellow Christian, how will you use them today in order to glorify God and make known to the world how beautiful He is and how much He truly loves them…?
