1 Corinthians 1:9
God is faithful,
by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son,
Jesus Christ our Lord.
A simple verse, but oh so beautiful when you stop and think about it.
In this media-driven age, where men and women are often treated as mere meat, thrown out and traded in for a new one as soon as their 'use-by' date arrives, *faithful* is a characteristic worth clutching hold of ~ if and when you can find it. To be loved by a faithful heart, who will be there for you through thick and thin, *beautiful* AND *ugly* is a great gift, and one to be honoured, I reckon.
Used in the above verse, I feel *faithful* is depicted as a beautiful love song ushered forth from the heart of our Heavenly Father. And with such a song He calls to us, to join with Him in fellowship...
I love the image of being called into fellowship. It shows that the one doing the calling desires our company.
That makes me smile... :) God, who is perfect in every single way, without sin or blemish, wants to hang out with us... :)
God, through Jesus, has come to seek our company... Why? Because we're perfect? Because we look good...? Because we say all the right things? Respond perfectly in every circumstance that come against us? Make all the right decisions? Love without showing ego at all times...? No, if these things were part of the criteria needed to be loved and wanted by God, none of us would make it, would we...
While we were still sinners, God wanted to be in fellowship with us... I think that's incredible, don't you? That a perfect God willingly lowers Himself, down off His throne, to come and meet us where we are at, while we are still imperfect, simply because He loves us... *sigh*
It's good to be loved and wanted, isn't it...
Romans 5:8
But God demonstrates His own love toward us
in that while we were still sinners,
Christ died for us.
But God demonstrates His own love toward us
in that while we were still sinners,
Christ died for us.
