We are...
Could it be
that the anger we feel
towards life
is a knowing in our spirit
telling us
that all is not right...?
We know
deep in our soul
that superficiality
is not the way to go
life is not meant to be
shallow
we're all looking for a
hero
someone to make things right
to take over this fight
we call
life...
We're all hurting
in a world deserting
us
We're all falling
while calling
for love
We've had enough...
We're all alone
lost in a crowd
crying out loud
by ourself
we need help...
Anger fills our heart
to protect us from the grief
that tears us apart
We are falling apart
We are falling
We are...
We stand alone
so alone
so cold and alone
so lost, cold and alone
longing for a home
where we are
loved
We've had enough
We are cold
We are drowning in the shallows
We are invisible in darkened shadows
We are afraid
We are scared
Our courage is fake
We are tired
We are burned
We are trying to break free
of lessons learned...
Where is the mercy
Where is the grace
Where is the love we were promised
at the foot of Christ's grave
Who stole the way
Who blocked our path
Who weeps
Who laughs last
Who cares
if we're lost
Who cares
if we're broken
Who cares
without giving up
Who cares
enough
to hold on
no matter what
with love...
We are drowning
We are dying
We are...
We are...

I just watched the movie "Detachment" which first had me feeling as though it ripped my heart out, but the Holy Spirit soon corrected me, informing me that watching it actually helped in the [process of the] restoration of my heart.
This movie left me aching for the numerous amount of souls out there, and in here, suffering from the cruel fist of life that often knocks us to our knees. It also had me thinking of anger - which is one of the greatest emotions in this movie.
Through the course of the movie and the wanderings of my imaginings, I once again wondered, as I have in the past, if this generation we've found ourselves in is angry because deep down inside we know that this is not how life was created to be.
We were created to be in union with God, in union with each other, and to not only learn what love is but to embrace it and give it also. Yet, through our fleshly desires - which are often born after the breaking of our hearts - we've learned to reach for the shallows of life. We've learned to be detached from all that really matters - through fear of greater heartache.
But inside we're hurting. Inside, where no one sees, we're broken. We reach for the comfort of the shallows in life, we buy into the advertising campaigns that tell us we 'need this' and 'must look like this' in order to be happy and complete and, most importantly, acceptable... but deep down we know that's wrong, and there, just in front of the deep grief we possess, we erect a wall of anger and pretend we want the shallows so nothing releases the hurt again.
BUT, we're still hurting. Deep down inside, beyond the wall of protection we've built for ourself, with a cry that is ours, a cry that we don't even want to hear anymore, we know that we know that we know (even if we don't want to consciously register such a truth) that life was not meant to be lived alone; we were not created to suffer this way; this abuse we've suffered IS wrong... and so on... And there, in that hidden place, where the pain just won't quit, where we KNOW what love is and isn't, where we dare not walk anymore, we are hurting because our hero never came. We are angry, because we know "it" is wrong, but no one came to make it right. We are angry because the powers that be, those who are in control of certain areas in life, in our world, in our home, in our society, fail to make things right... and we don't have the power to do it.
We know the shallows are not what life's about... but we're too afraid to go any deeper, because, when we did live in those depths, we were betrayed, abandoned, abused, belittled and discarded...
We're not angry because we're bitches and bastards. We're angry because we are afraid and because we can't stand the pain anymore... and our hero never came...
Or did He...?
Though we don't feel it at times
we are loved
we are
we are
we are
we are loved
we are
we are
